Canon Point: Post Issue 32, after Rock sacrifices himself in defeating Ra Moon once and for all (he was originally in a dying state upon his arrival to Revan)
Age: Canonically, Rock is ageless due to his status as a robot (as seen in this infamous panel). But to keep in line with the RP rules for Route 666, I’ll be bumping him up to be 14 years old instead!
Backstory: Archie!Rock’s MMKB Miraheze article as seen here! Issues 1-4 (aka the very first arc) start at “Let the Games Begin!” and Issues 29-32 (aka the seventh arc and Rock’s canon pull point for this application) end at “Blackout - The Curse of Ra Moon”, but feel free to read everything on his article if you’re interested!
Personality:
+Default emotional state and temperament: what is your character normally like? What personality do they show to the world, and is this at odds with how they really feel?
Rock is your typical kid hero, but with a slight twist. Rock is a courageous robot who wants to be the change he wants to see in the world, even going as far to place himself at risk to achieve his goals. Being a kid in terms of his programming, Rock has an all-loving naivety and kindness that reflects in his values of wanting to resolve conflicts peacefully and without bloodshed. The world being what it is, Rock holds a lot of emotional baggage from his previous outings, but he still continues to persist knowing that he’ll eventually be able to fight for the ever-lasting peace everyone so desperately needs. There are moments where Rock would be reluctant to take on such an action, especially if he personally believes there are far better solutions in settling the score.
+Motivations and goals: What drives them, in both the long term and the short term? What pushes them to keep going even when things are tough?
He wants to save everyone, and most of all the world. Rock was only a regular housekeeping robot designated in lab assistance when his fellow brothers were reprogrammed against their will, and Rock wanted to bring them back to the light side and stop Dr. Wily from enacting his nefarious plans of taking over the world and sullying Dr. Light’s name in the process. This was initially a short-term goal, but due to the rise of the Emerald Spears and Ra Moon along with the return of his long-lost brother Blues, Rock has become more proactive in wanting to ensure that ever-lasting peace can be achieved with as minimal casualties as possible. Or rather … if possible. Rock has a very wide support system in the form of his friends and family, and fighting for their safety is what keeps him pushing forwards despite everything being against his favor.
+Regrets and fears: What holds them back? What do they want to avoid at all costs?
With his newly-granted abilities as a super fighting combat robot, Rock is afraid of losing himself once more. He knows for a fact that with great power comes great responsibilities. With his desires for a kinder world, Rock will do anything to ensure nobody has to fight to the death. Even with his worst enemies, Rock will attempt to see reason with them and will only defend himself if the person is unwilling to change for the better. With the risks he takes, Rock places a significant burden on himself knowing that being complicit will do harm than good, even if it places himself in great danger. Taking one’s life is something that Rock would only do as a last resort or if forced, and even then it still disturbs Rock down to his very core.
+Breaking points: What can cause them to fly off the handle in rage? Or break down in tears? Or alternately just shuts them down entirely?
Rock absolutely hates injustice and unnecessary bloodshed, especially if the latter can be easily avoided through a simple talk or negotiation. He hates seeing anyone get hurt and will do anything to protect the people that he loves, especially if they happen to be his family. He himself doesn’t like having to inflict pain to reach certain goals, and will always feel guilt in having to hurt others to prevent collateral damage or even death. Additionally, Rock doesn’t like being seen as the lesser or weaker party and will do anything to disprove of such a view.
+Values: What do they admire in themselves or in other people? Do they have any codes or beliefs that they try to uphold?
Rock deeply admires people who have the potential and power to change themselves for the better. As a very adaptable and versatile person, Rock is easy to cooperate with if one is willing to extend the same kindness and reasonableness he does for them. Rock at heart is one who is willing to fight for what is right in order to uphold justice and fairness in the world. Rock hates having to play dirty and is rather disdainful of people who are willing to use their abilities to harm others, and is more than willing to not pull any of his punches if he knows they are capable enough of handling his strength. Rock is also someone who deeply adheres to the “ask first, fight later” mindset due to his personal beliefs in wanting to settle conflict as soon as it happens and as cleanly if possible.
+How do they handle change and trauma? Specifically the changes and trauma of turning into a monster?
Oh boy. Given his previous experiences of corruption on his end or on Dr. Wily’s end, Rock is outright terrified of becoming his worst possible self. He knows that wielding such great power can change one for the worse if one isn’t careful with how they use it, and Rock literally had to be imprisoned (albeit, temporarily) due to the catharsis and power high getting to his head. Contracting a computer virus from Dr. Willy’s first set of personal Robot Masters didn’t do him much favors either, as it completely managed to corrupt him and it took a timely intervention from his fellow siblings to restore him to his original state. Dying, or at least being on the limbo of such a state, won’t do him much better, especially if it’s the only way to take the risk in saving everyone from being harmed by greater forces of evil and injustice. Transforming into a monster is no exception, and Rock will be more than open to express his absolute fear of becoming the very things he swore to destroy!
+Closing statements: Anything else you wish to add or sum up?
TLDR: Rock is a kind-hearted and naive robot who wants to see the best out of everyone in hopes of keeping his closest friends and family safe from danger. He fights for justice despite the amount of emotional baggage that he has to carry along the way, some of which includes his own worries, hardships, burdens, and most of all … his own personal traumas. However, Rock doesn’t let those experiences knock him down for the worse as he is more than willing to search for the best of both worlds in hopes of reducing the amount of blood being shed during the world’s darkest hour.
Powers/Abilities: Weapon Copy System (Rock has the ability to copy other Robot Master’s abilities upon touching them, which will then be integrated into his systems for later use; for now, Rock will not come in with any ability copied), Mega Buster ability (this has become a natural part of his systems since his conversion to a combat robot, and he can freely transform his arm into a weapon and charge it for stronger blasts if needed), typical robot endurance (Rock can take a shocking amount of punishment whenever he’s out fighting or exploring uncharted territory given that he is a robot after all)
Inventory: His regular power armor (he usually transforms into this whenever he goes out on missions and he does arrive to Revan in this suit by default), his casual clothes (he usually is in this outfit whenever he is outside of his armor or not in an ongoing mission), his Mega Buster cannon (this is integrated into his combat robot systems and he can freely transform one of his hands into it by will)
Game Plans: I want to give this child as much trauma as possible. I’m (partially) kidding, of course, but in all honesty I personally believe that Rock is a very versatile character when it comes to meeting new characters and encountering never-seen-before scenarios. I think Route 666 would serve as an engaging challenge on how Rock would be able to conquer his fears and hardships given his current pull point (he did have a near-death experience courtesy to Ra Moon, after all!). It would also be very cool on how Rock would deal with his transformation and how to navigate a world as cruel and horrifying as Revan with his new-found friends on his side (it helps that I have a very good friend to bounce off of here like in a previous DWRP game I’ve been in beforehand!).
Monster Choice:
+ Unicorn (Rock is a very and gentle soul who genuinely wants to see reason and the best out of everyone. He’s also very protective of his friends and family, so being a horned honse would suit him very well!)
+ Cerberus (Rock is naturally very protective of the people he loves, hence why I personally chose this monster for him. The extra eyes that he can get is also a huge plus for a body horror lover like me, and I think him dealing with that is tragically terrifying in a sense.)
+ Nekomata (Rock has the ability to copy other characters’ abilities, so that monster’s ability to conjure illusions is pretty much reminiscent of such an ability. I also think it would be very horrifying if a robot suddenly began to crave the taste of flesh and blood, and Rock has experienced being corrupted before!)
Vehicle Choice: The Yamaha Niken uwu. I think a boy like Rock would like to have a fast-paced motorbike that can help him drive past both enemies and obstacles alike. Said motorbike would be amazing in getting him over to places that he usually wouldn’t be able to reach on his own too! Fast and versatile’s the name!
